Taking the Plunge

Hey there!  Welcome to my first blog post.  =)  My name is Jamie, and I'm so excited to get this going.  I've been debating if I wanted to join the blogging community for awhile now, and I've decided that I'm going to take the plunge.

The main reason that I'm here is because I'm ready to join the many paper crafters that are already out there sharing their creations with the interwebs. I'm hoping that as I start sharing my creations, it will be the first step toward possibly swapping, designing, and selling my cards and other crafts.  I often get asked if I sell my cards, and right now my answer is always, "Not yet, but we'll see."

The main thing that has prevented me from taking the step to selling my cards and other crafts is time.  Time is not always on my side.  But it's a new year!  I think that with this blog, I'll find more inspiration and motivation to join challenges and other creative activities online.  One of my goals for the year is to become a design team member for somebody.  Who?  Well I don't know just yet, but I know there are piles of talented bloggers out there with their own design teams.  I can only imagine how much fun it would be to be a part of one of those teams.  I already follow a few blogs, and I'll be adding buttons and fun things to my page as I get used to my new home here.

To kick of my new blog, I want to share my latest creation that I made today!  I originally had purchased a 12x12 canvas at my local craft store with the intention of making a homemade gift for my MIL.  Basically the project consisted of taking the canvas and coating it with Mod Podge and then covering it with a 12x12 piece of paper with a lighthouse scene on it.  The problem was I couldn't get the paper to lay smoothly across the canvas.  I gave up, any my husband ended up just buying something for his mom instead.

So today as I was organizing my craft area, I came across the canvas.  I put it in the pile of trash that I was going to throw out, but then as I looked at the back of the canvas, I had a great idea!  I decided to turn it into a window box type piece of art.  =)

I am sooooo happy with the way it turned out!  Take a look...

The scripture verse in the middle says "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

This was a pretty simply project, and I think that I will be making more of these for my home as well as to give as gifts to friends and family.

I would love to hear what you think!  Feel free to leave me a comment.  =)
